Schneider’s skinks (Eumeces schneiderii) are an incredible terrestrial skink native to Central Asia, Western Asia and Northern Africa. With their docile nature (even as field collected specimens) they are quite an amazing animal to keep. They are insectivores and can be fed a varied diet with calcium supplementation. Crickets, mealworms, superworms and Discoid roaches are a great food solution for these amazing animals.

The animals In the photos are the animals in our care (some of them). When we sell them we do our best to accommodate your choice, however the exact animals sent are based on availability

****STANDARD SHIPPING IS NOT AN OPTION ON LIVE ANIMALS! FOR SHIPPING QUOTES VIA REPTILE EXPRESS OR REPTILE RUNNER PLEASE CONTACT US! DO NOT SELECT STANDARD SHIPPING OPTIONS IN THE CHECKOUT****

As adults they grow to between 12”-20” long including their tail. Males show a broader head and wider base of the tail, while females have wider hips and a slimmer head. They can be very challenging to sex especially when they are younger which contributes to the lack of captive bred specimens found.

These animals are field collected in Egypt and imported. Even solo they do make a good pet, however we are wanting to see them established better in captivity so are currently selling them as pairs only! (Cannot 100 percent guarantee sex, however we have done our very best to setup pairs based on their characteristics.)

Here is a chance for you to breed these in captivity and help establish them in the Canadian hobby. Our goal is to eventually see less being wild caught and more being ethically produced in Canada!

For housing it is recommended to have a minimum size of 36" x 18" x 18" while providing UVB and a basking spot. This is the minimum and larger is always better. a Pair of Schneiders skinks would be well suited to a 4x2x1.5 or 4x2x2.
